The 2000 Tour de France boasted a lineup of formidable contenders, including Lance Armstrong, fresh from his 1999 victory, and Jan Ulrich, a previous winner in 1997 and runner-up in 1996 and 1998. Among the other strong challengers were Marco Pantani, Richard Virenque, Bobby Julich, Alexander Vinokourov, and Alex Zulle.

In the end, Lance Armstrong claimed victory in 2000, followed by Jan Ulrich in second place and Joseba Beloki in third. Erik Zabel secured the green jersey for sprinting prowess, while Santiago Botero conquered the mountains classification.

It’s important to acknowledge that, as per official records, the 2000 Tour de France is considered to have no winner. Although Lance Armstrong stood atop the podium in Paris that year, his victory was later nullified due to doping allegations, resulting in his lifetime ban from cycling.
