Gino Bartali Signed, Complete Set of 50th Giro d’Italia Postal Covers

$650.00

This beautiful postal cover set was issued to celebrate the 50th edition of the Giro d’Italia in 1967.  Each cover is wonderfully designed and is complete with 50th-anniversary stamps and cancellations.   To push this already amazing set over the top, each card has been individually signed by Italian cycling legend Gino Bartali.

Bartali was the most renowned Italian cyclist before World War II, having won the Giro d’Italia two times (1936, 1937) and the Tour de France in 1938. After the war, he added one more victory in each event: the Giro d’Italia in 1946 and the Tour de France in 1948. His second Tour de France victory in 1948 gave him the largest gap between victories in the race.

This eye-popping set also includes the original folio.

Size of each postal cover: 6.5 x 3.5 inches (16.5 x 9.5 cm)
