Désiré Letort, in Yellow, rides alongside Raymond Poulidor during Stage 6 on the 1969 Tour de France, Letort lead in the the overall at the end of Stage 5 and wore the Yellow Jersey for one day before turning it over to Eddy Merckx.
While his nickname “the eternal second” fit the Tour de France, he had a career stacked with legendary victories: 1961 Milan–San Remo, 1963 La Flèche Wallonne, 1963 Grand Prix des Nations, 1964 Vuelta a España, Critérium International (1964, 1966, 1968, 1971–72), Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré (1966, 1969), Paris–Nice (1972–73), and 7 stage wins at the Tour de France.
