The Mark of Champions and Championships

The lovely poster for La Francaise – Diament features two stars of the day: Emile Georget & Emile Friol.  Georget rode professionally from 1903 until 1914 during which time he was the Champion of France, won Bordeaux-Paris & Paris-Brest-Paris just to name a few.  Friol, who was a professional from 1904 until 1914, was a multiple time Champion de Vitesse.

This poster has been archivally and professionally linen backed.  Virtually all original vintage posters of this era were viewed as temporary advertising and were printed on very thin paper. While expensive, linen backing is a conservation method used to mount, stabilize, preserve and protect vintage posters so they can be displayed or framed without compromising value. We take great care to insure the posters in our collection are linen backed by a very competent professional in France who uses acid-free materials and executes a process that is entirely reversible.
