1982 Tour de France Podium Pennant

$130.00

Authentic 1982 Tour de France Podium Pennant. These pennants were used at the race and also given to select VIP’s who visited the race.

Bernard Hinault, who had won the Tour in 1978, 1979 and 1981, and left the 1980 Tour in leading position, was the clear favorite for victory in 1982. In those other years, Hinault had won several races before the Tour, but in 1982 he had only won one major race, the Giro d’Italia. Hinault had tried and succeded in 1982 to be the fourth cyclist, after Fausto Coppi, Jacques Anquetil, and Eddy Merckx to win the Giro-Tour double.

Bernard Hinault won the 1982 Tour de France by 6’21” over second-place finisher Joop Zoetemelk along with winning the combined classification, three stages (14, 19 & 21) and the prologue.
