$24.95

Julien Pouchois, born December 10, 1888, in Lyon and died June 6, 1955, in Levallois-Perret, was a French cyclist that specialized in track events.  He is pictured here in 1908 after winning the GP de Paris de Vitesse.  During his career from 1908 to 1920, he placed in the top three in various Vitesse events.

Vitesse, also known as “sprint” in English, was a 2-3 lap track race between two riders starting from the same position on the track.  A draw determined which rider started in the upper and lower positions on the track.  This was a very short, but tactical race, with the winner crossing the line first.
