This is a great set of 4 postal covers from the Peace Race.
The Peace Race stage race held in the Eastern Bloc states of Czechoslovakia, East Germany and Poland. First organized in 1948, it was originally created with the intent of relieving tensions existing between Central European countries following the interwar period and World War II. The race was last held in 2006.
In this modern age of e-mail and texting is is wonderful to see the beauty of good old fashion mail. The details of engraved stamps, special cancellations and postal covers created just to show off and celebrate a special occasion.
