Ouest-France Newspaper Tour de France Car Flag

$180.00

Ouest-France newspaper started during the WWII. Beginning right after the war, the newspaper’s distinct cars with catchy, mid-century logo designs quickly established themselves in the Tour de France caravan. This flag was displayed prominently on the front of the Ouest-France car in special purpose holders. Virtually all Tour de France race caravan cars used the iconic and easily identifiable blue-painted stick. The grommet on the nose allowed the flag to be wired tight for logo display. Unwired, the flag could flap freely in the wind as the car sauntered through its three-week journey through France, following the race each day. Eighty years later, Ouest-France continues as a vibrant contributor to French journalism.
