Munich 6 Day Jersey, #14 Black

$90.00

An Authentic Number 14 Jersey from the Munich 6 Day races.

This jersey for team 14 was sponsored by Spaten Beer, a legendary German brewery found in 1397 in Munich. Spaten translate to spade in German and the symbol of the brand, a malt shovel, can be seen in the sponsor plaque on thsi wonderful jersey.

The Six Days of Munich was first held in 1933. Hitler’s cultural branch banned the sport in Germany from 1934 until 1949, and the race took another break from 1955 to 1971. Beginning in 1972, the race was held in the Olympiahalle; a multi-purpose arena build as part of the Olympic Park for the 1972 Summer Olympics.

Six-Day racing is a wild whirlwind of track racing excitement, with two-person teams racing over six days. In the early days of Six-Day racing, the teams had to be on the track 24 hours a day, even taking meals while on their bikes. Modern Six-Day events take place over six evenings, with two-person teams competing in various events for the overall title.
