This jersey was race worn by Italian Mario Corti on his way to overall victory at 19 years old at the 1972 Vuelta de la Juventud in Mexico. This was one of Corti’s earliest important race victories of his career.
Claudio Corti (born 1 March 1955 in Bergamo, Italy) is a former professional Italian rider who became a team manager at the end of his career. Corti’s career highlights were winning the amateur World Championships in 1977, placing 2nd at the 1984 Pro World Championships, and back-to-back Italian National Road Championships in 1985 and 1986. He was a solid professional rider who had a long list of top 10 placing and victories at several notable races.
This jersey has the “look” – fabulous chain stitching on front and back. Great condition overall condition. The new owner may wish to dry clean the jersey to restore its pristine condition. Or, simply leave as is for a complete vintage look.
This jersey was purchased directly from the Augusto Gotti family and was part of the collection in the legendary Bar Augusto in Villa d’Alme, Italy. Bar Augusto was a key host to professional and amateur cycling teams from the 1960s through the 1980s.
