This flag was displayed prominently on the front of tour vehicles in special purpose holders. Virtually all Tour de France race caravan cars used the iconic and easily identifiable blue-painted stick. The loop on the nose allowed the flag to be wired tight for logo display. Unwired, the flag could flap freely in the wind as the car sauntered through its three-week journey through France, following the race each day.
The Le Provencal daily newspaper started near the end of WWII in 1944. In 1997, Le Provencal merged with another daily paper to create La Provence, which is still in publication today.
