Julien Stevens is a Belgian former professional cyclist, born in Mechelen on February 25, 1943, who was one of the strongest Belgian riders of the late 1960s and 1970s. A fast finisher who also raced successfully on the track, Stevens won the Belgian National Road Race Championship in 1968, claimed a Tour de France stage in 1969, won a stage of the Tour de Suisse that same year, and later added a stage victory in the 1975 Vuelta a España. He also finished second at the 1969 UCI Road World Championships, narrowly beaten by Harm Ottenbros, and built a reputation as a valuable teammate to major stars including Rik Van Steenbergen, Rik Van Looy, and Eddy Merckx. Beyond the road, Stevens was active in six-day racing and Belgian track championships, making him one of the most versatile and respected Belgian professionals of his era.
