Jacques Anquetil, 1961 Tour de France, Yellow Jersey, Signed Original Vintage Press Photograph

$98.00

This signed original press photo captures Jacques Anquetil in the maillot jaunt (yellow jersey) at the 1961 Tour de France on Stage 16 after the Cole de Ares climb.

The 1961 Tour de France was dominated by Jacques Anquetil who held the yellow jersey from Stage 1b all the way to the finish in Paris.  The big battle on the road was for second place with Guido Carlesi stealing second place from Charly Gaul on the last day by two seconds.

Jacques Anquetil was the first rider to win the Tour de France five times and is still one of only four riders to complete the stunning record. Anquetil won the Tour de France in 1957, 1961, 1962, 1963, and 1964. In addition, he is one of only six cyclists to have won all three Grand Tours.
