This is Giancarlo Rotta’s race winners jersey from the 1968 Giro Provincia di Como, including his original race number. This race is considered a major bellweather race for up-and-coming superstars In the roll of honor there is no shortage of names of riders who later became professionals – some with great results – such as Gianni Motta, first in 1961 and in 1962, the two-time world champion Gianni Bugno (1980), Oscar Biason (1991), the Swiss Patrick Calcagni (1992), the 2016 Italian champion Giacomo Nizzolo (2005), Davide Orrico (2006) and Davide Ballerini (2010).
This jersey just oozes character and charm with its chain stitching and original cloth race number!
This jersey was purchased directly from the Augusto Gotti family and was part of the collection in the legendary Bar Augusto in Villa d’Alme, Italy. Bar Augusto was a key host to professional and amateur cycling teams from the 1960s through the 1980s.
