Georges Passerieu (FRA), Winner of Seven Tour de France Stages

Georges Passerieu was a British born French professional cyclist from 1905 – 1913.  He won seven stages of the Tour de France, placed on the Tour de France podium twice(1906 & 1908) along with winning Paris-Roubaix and Paris-Tours.

Passerieu first rode the Tour de France in 1906, in his first season as a professional on the Peugeot team.  Passerieu was a strong mountain climber and finished second to Rene Pottier on Stage 3.  Pottier dominated and won the 1906 Tour but Passerieu was the best of the rest. Passerieu won the first stage, beating Pottier in Marseille after they had climbed the mountains together. Later he also won the twelfth stage and finished second in the general classification.

At the 1908 Tour de France Passerieu was the only cyclist to climb the Ballon d’Alsace and the Chartreuse without dismounting his bicycle.
