Gaetano Baronchelli (Ita) raced the 1973 Worlds as an amateur. In 8th place, he was the highest placed Italian. Amateur worlds teams at the time often had a qualifying race where a certain number of riders automatically made the team with the remainder of the spots being filled at the coach’s discretion. This is Baronchelli’s Jersey from winning that race.
This jersey was purchased directly from the Augusto Gotti family and was part of the collection in the legendary Bar Augusto in Villa d’Alme, Italy. Bar Augusto was a key host to professional and amateur cycling teams from the 1960s through the 1980s.
Jersey includes a signed photo and original label from Bar Augusto.
