Ernest-Paul dit Faber à son arrivée au Parc des Princes

A rare original photographic postcard featuring Ernest-Paul dit Faber, French professional road racer and half-brother of 1909 Tour de France champion François Faber. Issued circa 1910 and captioned “Cyclisme – Ernest-Paul dit Faber, Routier Français”, the image shows Faber at the finish of the 1910 Tour de France at Parc des Princes, mud-spattered with goggles and spare tires beside his machine.

Born Ernest Paul in 1881, he adopted “Faber” as a racing alias, possibly as a tribute to his celebrated brother. Ernest competed in seven editions of the Tour de France between 1908 and 1922, completing six, winning two stages (1909 and 1910), and placing 6th overall in 1909. This image captures the grit and endurance required of early Tour riders, who raced without support across primitive roads.
