Fausto Bertoglio won the 1972 Settimana Bergamasca..  The gorgeous jersey has beautiful bright colors and beautifully chain stitched lettering.

Fausto Bertoglio raced as a professional from 1973 to 1980. His career’s highlight was his overall win in the 1975 Giro d’Italia with the Jollj Ceramica team. It was the first Giro d’Italia victory on a Pinarello bicycle frameset. He also won the 1975 edition of the Volta a Catalunya. He finished third in the 1976 Giro d’Italia and ninth in the 1976 Tour de France.

Settimana Ciclistica Bergamasca (also know as Settimana Lombardia) was first held in 1970.  Up until 1987, the race was amateur-only.  After a break in 1988, the race was re-launched in 1989 as a pro-am event and boasts such winners as Thibaut Pinot (2011), Pavel Tonkov (1992), and Danilo Di Luca (2008), among many more.  Sadly the race was last held in 2013.

This jersey was purchased directly from the Augusto Gotti family and was part of the collection in the legendary Bar Augusto in Villa d’Alme, Italy.  Bar Augusto was a key host to professional and amateur cycling teams from the 1960s through the 1980s.
