Erich Jagsch rode as a professional from 1979 to 1982. This beautiful Tour of Austria Mountains jersey was won as an amateur in 1978. Jagsch rode well at the 1978 Tour of Austria winning the mountains classification, finishing third overall, and finishing second in the points classification.
The Tour of Austria, a stage race founded in 1949, was a race for amateur cyclists from 1949 before becoming a professional race in 1996. The race is currently part of the UCI Europe Tour. The race has been held in July since 2005 but was previously seen as an excellent Tour de France preparation race.
This jersey was purchased directly from the Augusto Gotti family and was part of the collection in the legendary Bar Augusto in Villa d’Alme, Italy. Bar Augusto was a key host to professional and amateur cycling teams from the 1960s through the 1980s.
