Edouard Wattelier of a rider of the “Heroic Era” of cycling taking part in the first bike races that we know as classics today. In May 1902 he won Bordeaux-Paris with a time of 22 hours and 47 minutes over the 580 km course.  He raced six times in Paris-Roubaix the first time in 1898, never finishing out of the top 10. He raced in the very first Tour de France in 1903 and would eventually start the Tour seven times, making it to Paris four of those times and finishing 7th overall in 1906.
