Baden Cooke, 2003 Tour de France Points Leader Jacket (direct from Baden)

Original price was: $550.00.Current price is: $290.00.

After the 2003 Tour de France, we contacted Baden Cooke to acquire some of his original green jersey items. We met him in Belgium at the end of August at the 2003 GP Eddy Merckx where we acquired this jacket. The jackets are quite hard to come by as they are only given to the riders and are not made for race protocol signings.

The 2003 Tour de France saw an exciting battle among the top sprinters for the Green Jersey.  The jersey changed hands six times over the course of 20 stages. After holding onto the green jersey for 11 days Cooke lost it to Robbie McEwen on Stage 18.  Cooke took the jersey back from Robbie McEwen by only 2 points on the final day of racing on the Champs-Èlysées.

The 2003 race was special as it marked 100 years of the legendary Tour de France.  The 2003 route paid homage to the first 1903 route by visiting many of the same locations and roads and awarding the Centenaire Classement prize honoring six-stage finishes visiting the same locations as the1903 race.

This fantastic jacket was purchased by Brett Horton directly from Baden Cooke in 2003.
