The Girobio (aka Baby Giro or Giro Ciclistico d’Italia) is an Italian amateur stage race that was founded in 1970. The Girobio is an important race in the Italian amateur calendar and is considered an amateur version of the Giro d’Italia. Past winners include such racing legends as Francisco Moser, Marco Pantani, Gilberto Simoni, and Danilo De Luca.
Kazakhstani rider, Andrei Teteriouk was the winner of the 1989 Girobio. Teteriouk went on to enjoy a successful professional racing career from 1992 to 2002. His professional victories include a top 10 finish at the 1995 Tour de Suisse, a stage win at the 1996 Tour de Suisse and a Stage victory at the 1997 Dauphine Libere ITT on the third day which put his team into the race lead.
This jersey was purchased directly from the Augusto Gotti family and was part of the collection in the legendary Bar Augusto in Villa d’Alme, Italy. Bar Augusto was a key host to professional and amateur cycling teams from the 1960s through the 1980s.
