2011 UCI Road World Championships
In the Heart of the City – Copenhagen – September 19th – 25th

This official poster for the 2011 UCI Road World Championships captures the intensity of elite sprinting as cyclists surge toward the finish.

The 2011 UCI Road World Championships were held in Copenhagen, Denmark, from September 19th to 25th. This marked the first time since 1956 that Denmark hosted the event. The championships featured ten events across elite, under-23, and junior categories, with races taking place in Copenhagen and the surrounding Rudersdal area. The courses were designed to favor sprinters, leading to several thrilling finishes.

Great Britain’s Mark Cavendish clinched the world title in the Elite Men’s Road Race, completing the 266 km course in 5 hours, 40 minutes, and 27 seconds. He narrowly out-sprinted Australia’s Matthew Goss and Germany’s André Greipel in a tightly contested finish. This victory marked Great Britain’s first elite men’s road race world championship since 1965.

Germany’s Tony Martin dominated the Elite Men’s Individual Time Trial on September 21, covering the 46.4 km course in 53 minutes and 43.85 seconds. He finished over a minute ahead of Great Britain’s Bradley Wiggins, who took silver, and Switzerland’s Fabian Cancellara, who secured bronze.

Italy’s Giorgia Bronzini successfully defended her title in the Elite Women’s Road Race, completing the 140 km course in 3 hours, 21 minutes, and 28 seconds. She edged out the Netherlands’ Marianne Vos and Germany’s Ina-Yoko Teutenberg in a mass sprint finish.

Germany’s Judith Arndt claimed her first world title in the Elite Women’s Time Trial, completing the 27.8 km course in 37 minutes and 7.38 seconds. New Zealand’s Linda Villumsen took silver, while Great Britain’s Emma Pooley earned bronze.

This poster has been archivally and professionally linen-backed. Virtually all original vintage posters of this era were viewed as temporary advertising and were printed on very thin paper. While expensive, linen backing is a conservation method used to mount, stabilize, preserve, and protect vintage posters so they can be displayed or framed without compromising value.

This poster is an original first printing, not a reproduction.
