1989 Tour de France Souvenir Race Guide

This a a great Guide to the 1989 Tour de France containing profiles of the top riders; each containing a photo and biography.  Also contains a complete list of Tour winners from 1903 to 1988 along with pages to record results.

At the start of this Tour, of course, no one knew they would be witness to an epic battle between American Greg Lemond and Frenchman Laurent Fignon who were never separate by more than 53 seconds over the 21 stages of racing.  The 1989 Tour was decided in the final stage, an individual time trail into Paris, with Lemond taking the lead from Fignon to win the overall race by only 8 seconds.
