The 1983 Road World Championships were held in Alternheim, Switzerland, on September 4th.
In the Men’s Road Race, Greg Lemond took first, with Andri van der Poel & Stephan Roche finishing second and third. In the Team Time Trial, the Soviet Union won the Gold Medal with Switzerland and Norway taking Silver and Bronze.
The Women’s Road Race was won by Marianne Berglund of Sweden, with Rebecca Twigg and Maria Canins taking second and third.
