This striking postcard series is one of the earliest to document a specific Tour de France, capturing the drama and intensity of the 1910 race. Produced by Emile Dumont of Liège, the set features tinted photographs taken during the event. Each card includes a white caption strip with the title “Tour de France 1910” and a description of the featured rider or scene.

Highlights of the set include a rare color card of Henri Cornet, winner of the 1904 Tour and one of the few known color images of him. Tour champions Octave Lapize and François Faber are also prominently featured. The card backs are standard postcard format, with “Emile Dumont, éditeur, Liège” printed vertically along the left edge.

The 1910 edition of the Tour was the first to tackle the high mountains, a brutal shift introduced by race organizer Henri Desgrange. On one punishing climb, eventual winner Octave Lapize famously shouted at the officials, “Vous êtes des assassins! Oui, des assassins!” (“You are murderers! Yes, murderers!”). Several cards in this set depict Lapize battling those very climbs. Tragically, despite his triumph in the Tour, Lapize faced an even harsher fate in World War I—he was shot down and killed in July 1917 while serving as a military pilot.

This historically significant set offers a rare glimpse into the early days of the Tour de France and serves as a powerful tribute to the riders who helped shape its legacy.
