Description

Setmana Catalana de Ciclisme was a stage race held in Catalonia, Spain from 1963 until 2005 during late March.

The first winner of the race was José Pérez-Francés in 1963. Six rider have won the race twice: Spaniards José Pérez-Francés and Luis Ocaña, Belgian Eddy Merckx, Swiss Alex Zülle, Dutchman Michael Boogerd and Frenchman Laurent Jalabert. Alberto Contador was the last to win in 2005.

In the racing of today, the race organizer cars, team vehicles, and other participants of the official race caravan have disposable stickers that are affixed to the windshield. Slipping a bit into the wayback machine, there was a time when the cars had plaques that were attached to the front of the follow cars.

As with most things ephemeral, the majority of the plaques were promptly tossed in the trash once the race was finished. The ones that survived, have become quite collectable.
