The Deutschland Tour, founded in 1911 is the most important stage race in Germany.  Historically the race has been held in May/June but in 2005 the race was moved to August and became part of the UCI Pro Tour.  Currently, the race has four-stages and is part of the UCI Europe Tour.

The 2003 edition of the race was won by Australian Michael Rogers of the Quick Step – Davitamon Team with Erik Zabel tanking the points classification and Bram Schmitz the mountains. The race was held June 3-9 and covered 7 stages from Dresden to Saarbrücken.
