1923-1925 Tour de France Poster
Automoto Dominated Cycling in the 1920s
Automoto crushed the competition at the 1923-1925 Tours de France. In 1923, 34 year old Henri Pelissier of France rode to victory in front of a challenging
field including second place Ottavio Bottechia of Italy. In 1924 and 1925 it was
Bottechia who reigned supreme. This poster shows Bottechia's unmistakeable image.
Note the wonderful use of the letter "T" in Automoto as a stand-in for the bike. Bottechia stands proud replete with tires wrapped around his shoulders, cotton cap on his head, and racing goggles at the ready.
Reproduced from the original in The Horton Collection.
We selected from the finest original posters in our archives to produce these high quality reproductions. The posters are very space efficient, measuring 24"x36" and are far from the cheap posters found at the local shopping mall. During the creation of these posters each image was carefully monitored for correct color balance and printed on heavyweight paper stock using high quality presses, all to insure they will look good for years to come.
